Denver Hands CC Women’s Lacrosse First Loss Tigers End Regular Season With 10-1 Record
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Junior midfielder Stephanie Greenlees scored four goals and added three assists to lead the University of Denver to a 17-8 victory over Colorado College Saturday afternoon at CC’s Stewart Field.
The Pioneers scored five consecutive goals midway through the first half to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 6-3 lead with 14:30 remaining in the opening period. The Tigers cut the lead to 6-4 on the second of four goals by junior midfielder Helen Sneath, but DU scored the next eight goals to remove any doubt about the final outcome.
Freshman midfielder Megan Tyrie and senior midfielder Crystal Jack added three goals apiece for the Division I Pioneers, who improved to 5-11 on the season.
Senior attacker Cassie Abel had a goal and two assists for the Tigers, while senior attacker Jen Alpern and sophomore attacker Kate Fitzgerald each had a goal and an assist.
Senior Steph Schneider made 15 saves for DU before leaving with 10 minutes remaining in the game. Junior Alana Dalton had four saves in just over 40 minutes in goal for CC.
The fifth-ranked Tigers will have to wait until Sunday, May 8, before learning who they will face in the NCAA Division III tournament.
