DU Women’s Lacrosse Signs Three All-Americans
Pioneers sign two from Colorado and one from Maryland
DENVER – Ali Flury (Arnold, Md./Broadneck), Lexi Sanders (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) and Megan Zeman (Littleton, Colo./Mullen) have signed National Letters of Intent to attend the University of Denver and play women’s lacrosse, head coach Cathy Nelson Reese announced.
"We're pleased to announce the signing of three high-quality student-athletes," Nelson Reese said. "We added a lot of speed, size and skill to our program. All three bring impressive credentials to our program and will represent DU well on-and-off the field."
Flury is a lacrosse, soccer, track and basketball star for the Broadneck Bruins. She has earned All-America, all-metro and all-county honors in lacrosse during her three-year career. She also was named to the second-team all-state and all-county teams in soccer. A state qualifier as an indoor sprinter, Flury will play in the midfield.
Sanders has excelled at Cherry Creek High School. A two-time All-American, All-Colorado and Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News All-Colorado Team member in lacrosse, she also played one season of field hockey. Sanders earned Most Valuable Player and Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News All-Colorado Team honors for field hockey.
Zeman carries six years of lacrosse experience into Denver. She earned All-America and Rocky Mountain News “Best of the Best” honors as a sophomore and junior. A three-time all-conference honoree, Zeman was named to the all-state team her junior season. Also played one year of volleyball at Mullen.
The squad opens its 2006 campaign at home against Longwood on Feb. 16.
