Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Jamie Munro Earns US Lacrosse Coach of the Week

Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Jamie Munro Earns US Lacrosse Coach of the Week Honors
Munro led the Pioneers to wins over Manhattan and No. 13 North Carolina last weekend

DENVER- University of Denver men’s lacrosse head coach Jamie Munro was named the US Lacrosse Coach of the Week it was announced by US Lacrosse today. Munro guided the Pioneers to a 19-2 victory over the Manhattan Jaspers and an 11-8 upset victory over No. 13 North Carolina at the 2006 Pioneer Face-Off Classic last weekend.

Munro is in his eighth season as head coach of the Pioneers and is DU’s all-time winningest coach with a 52-43 record through seven seasons. In 2005, Munro led the Pioneers to a 9-5 (4-1 Great Western Lacrosse League) record and a No.18 final ranking in the Coaches Poll. The Pioneers jumped five spots in the Inside Lacrosse media poll this week and are sitting at the No. 15 spot. The team is 2-1 on the season with wins over Manhattan and North Carolina and a loss to No. 3 Virginia.

The Pioneers will return to action March 4 when they take on Colgate in the second game of a doubleheader with the DU women’s lacrosse team. Face-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
