Outlaws Draft Five in Collegiate Draft
DENVER – May 31, 2006 – The Denver Outlaws drafted five players in their first Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft Wednesday night.
The 2-0 team had four picks in the second round and one in the fifth round.
With their first selection (17th overall), the Outlaws drafted University of Denver product Geoff Snider. Snider (5-11, 200) earned 2006 STX/USILA All-American Third Team recognition to lead the Pioneers to their first ever NCAA Tournament berth.
With the next pick in the draft, the Outlaws chose defender Brett Moyer (6-1, 183) from Hofstra University. Moyer placed third on the Pride with 69 groundballs en route to a spot on the 2006 STX/USILA All-American Team.
Denver used the 20th pick on midfielder Casey Cittadino (5-10, 185) from Towson University. He led the Tigers with 20 caused turnovers.
The Outlaws concluded the second round (21st overall) by choosing attack Brendan Mundorf (5-11, 195) from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. Mundorf tied for the lead on the Retrievers with 47 points (28-19—47) in 15 games to earn a spot on the 2006 STX/USILA All-American Third Team.
The Outlaws used their last selection of the night (fifth round, 43rd overall) on defender Sean McCarthy (6-0, 202) from Hofstra. McCarthy led the squad with 6.5 minutes in penalties.
All of the team’s draftees are expected to be available to play in the Outlaws game against Baltimore on Saturday night.
