Snider Selected 17th Overall by Denver Outlaws in MLL Collegiate Draft
Goodwin picked in fifth round by Chicago Machines
DENVER – University of Denver senior standouts Geoff Snider (Calgary, Alberta) and Adam Goodwin (Columbus, Ohio) were selected in the 2006 Major League Lacrosse collegiate draft held yesterday. Snider was selected 17th overall in the second round by the Denver Outlaws, while Goodwin was picked 42nd overall in the fifth round by the Chicago Machines.
“We’re very happy for Geoff and Adam to be picked in this year’s MLL collegiate draft,” head coach Jamie Munro said. “They have worked extremely hard the past four years and will be solid contributors at the next level. Geoff is a face-off specialist and Adam is a gifted offensive player.”
Snider earned Third-Team USILA All-America and Scholar All-American honors earlier this week after leading the nation and setting NCAA records in ground balls per game (11.41) and total groundballs (194). He finished second in face-off win percentage (.684) earned his first Scholar All-America honor after earning a 3.58 GPA in finance/marketing.
The Outlaws are currently leading the Western Conference with a 2-0 record in their first season in the MLL. Denver leads the MLL with 17 goals per game, while former Pioneer All-American is tied for the league lead with eight goals.
Goodwin led the Pioneers in scoring by tallying career bests in points (34), goals (26), assists (8) and groundballs (25). He scored a career-high five goals in the Pioneers' 17-8 win over Quinnipiac on April 9 and earned GWLL Player of the Week honors April 12. He posted a 3.38 GPA in finance/real estate and earned USILA Scholar All-American honors.
Chicago is 0-2 in the Western Conference after giving up a league-leading 39 goals to start this season.
The Pioneers captured their first outright GWLL championship with a perfect 5-0 league mark. DU posted a 12-5 overall record and advanced to its first NCAA Tournament.
