Senior becomes the second Pioneer to be named to the watchlist

DENVER- University of Denver senior midfielder Geoff Snider (Calgary, Alberta) has been added to the 2006 Tewaaraton Watchlist, it was announced by the Tewaaraton Award Foundation today. Snider becomes the second player in as many years to be named to the prestigious watchlist. In 2005, Scott Davidson became the first Pioneer to be named to the watchlist.

The Tewaaraton Trophy is the top lacrosse award in the country, honoring the nation’s top male and female varsity collegiate lacrosse players. It is the equivalent of football’s Heisman Trophy. Players on the list are considered players to keep an eye on during the season. The list will be voted on and narrowed down as the season progresses with the final five males and females making up the 2006 Tewaaraton Award finalists.

Snider currently leads the nation in groundballs per game, grabbing 10.40 per contest and is seventh in face-off win percentage with a .625 percentage. He also earned Preseason All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse magazine. This season, Snider was named Great Western Lacrosse League Player of the Week on February 27 for his efforts in the Pioneers upset of then-No. 13 North Carolina in the 2006 Pioneer Face-Off Classic and was also named MVP of the 2006 Pioneer Face-Off Classic. Last summer, Snider was selected to the Canadian national team that will host 2006 World Lacrosse Championships.

The Pioneers are currently 4-2 (0-0 GWLL) and will host the Drexel Dragons Tuesday, March 28 in Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. Face-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
