Outlaws Acquire G Trevor Tierney in Six-Team Blockbuster Trade
Denver also gets M Jeff Sonke and college draft pick from Bayhawks

DENVER – The Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse acquired goaltender Trevor Tierney, midfielder Jeff Sonke and the 20th selection in the 2006 collegiate draft from the Baltimore Bayhawks in exchange for midfielder David Curry, defender Mike Howley, defender Ryan Marshall, goaltender Scott Schroeder and the fifth overall choice in the 2006 collegiate draft.

Tierney, 27, led Baltimore the MLL Championship last season, posting a 9-2 record and winning both postseason decisions. Tierney also has amassed the third-most wins (19) in league history. The three-time MLL All-Star was the netminder for two National Championships as a collegiate at Princeton. Tierney has posted a 19-14 record, while making 530 saves. In three playoff outings, he has a 2-1 record.

Sonke, 27, registered 37 points (22-11—37) for Baltimore. He also added a goal in the Bayhawks’ championship game victory. Sonke, who was twice named to the MLL All-Star team, was a three-time All American at North Carolina before he was drafted 10th overall in the 2001 MLL Draft. Sonke has registered 115 points (77-26—115) and eight penalty minutes in five MLL seasons.

“We are very fortunate to acquire two players of the caliber of Trevor and Jeff. Both will be a big part of our team’s success this year on the field and off,” Outlaws General Manager Brian Reese said. “Not only are these guys extremely talented and decorated lacrosse players, they are both great ambassadors for the sport of lacrosse. We are excited to kick the season off on May 20 with these two great players on the Outlaws roster.”
