Pavoni Named GWLL Player Of The Week

USAFA, Colo. - Air Force senior goalkeeper Justin Pavoni (Park City, Utah) was named the Great Western Lacrosse League Player of the Week for the week of April 10-16, as announced Tuesday morning. It marks the second such honors for Pavoni this season, as he earned league player of the week recognition last month after the Falcons’ upset of then-16th-ranked Dartmouth.

Pavoni, who saw 120 minutes of action in a pair of home contests last week, was recognized primarily for his performance in a 9-8 upset of ninth-ranked Notre Dame Sunday at Cadet Lacrosse Stadium. Pavoni recorded 13 saves and six ground balls in the win, and put forth a crucial fourth-period effort, limiting the Irish to just one goal on 11 shots. Air Force’s victory over Notre Dame last weekend was its first since 1988, and just its fifth in 22 meetings in the all-time series.

Pavoni and the rest of the Falcons return to action this Friday, April 21, when they travel to Butler for a GWLL match-up.
