Outlaws Win Two League Weekly Awards

DENVER – June 5, 2006 – Two Denver Outlaws earned Major League Lacrosse’s weekly awards the league announced on Monday.

Midfielder Mike Law earned the league’s Offensive Player of the Week as he recorded a league-high nine points (4-3—9) – included in his four goals were a pair of two-pointers – in Denver’s 24-14 win over the Baltimore Bayhawks on Saturday night. Law leads the league with 12 goals and 17 points (12-3—17), including two two-point tallies through the season’s first three games.

Defender Lee Zink garnered the league’s Defensive Player of the Week honors as he held the 2005 Co-MVP Mark Millon to just two assists. Zink led a defense that held Millon without a goal for just the fourth time in his career. The Outlaws have limited their opponents to 12.0 points per game, which is tied for third in the league.

As the Outlaws are new to MLL, the two awards are the first in team history.

Denver, who is a perfect 3-0 in its inaugural season, will host the San Francisco Dragons on Saturday at INVESCO Field at Mile High at 7:30 p.m.
