DU Men’s Lacrosse Hosts Alumni Game
Pioneers to honor 2006 GWLL Championship team

DENVER – The University of Denver men’s lacrosse team will host its annual alumni game to conclude fall practice Saturday, Oct. 21, at 1:30 p.m., at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. The match-up will pit the 2006-07 squad against 31 former team members from 1996-2006.

Of the 31 members returning, current professionals Mike Law ’01, Tom Ethington ’02 and Matt Brown ’05 will be participating. Law was DU’s first All-America in men’s lacrosse and has played in the National Lacrosse League and Major League Lacrosse. Daren Tinger ’96 is the oldest alumni scheduled to play. Tinger is second on the Pioneers’ career goals scored and career points list. Geoff Snider ’06, who was drafted fourth overall in the National Lacrosse League draft in September will also be playing.

In a reception starting at 3:30 p.m., rings will be presented to the members of the 2006 Great Western Lacrosse League champions.

The Pioneer lacrosse team is on the rise nationally, having tied for two GWLL championships in 2003 and 2005 and winning the title outright in 2006. The 2006 squad also appeared in the program’s first NCAA tournament.
