2006 GWLL Championship team awarded rings

DENVER – The University of Denver varsity men’s lacrosse team defeated the alumni, 20-15, at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium Saturday afternoon. In a reception following the game the members of the 2006 Great Western Lacrosse League Championship team received championship rings.

Current professional lacrosse players Tom Ethington, Matt Brown and Geoff Snider were in attendance, with Brown tallying five goals for the squad. Junior Jon Paulson (Flemington, NJ) led the varsity team with three goals.

“We had a great turnout today,” head coach Jamie Munro said. “We want to briefly celebrate the accomplishments of the 2006 team and get ready for 2007. I hope we’ll have this tradition for years to come.”

The Pioneer lacrosse team is on the rise nationally, having tied for two GWLL championships in 2003 and 2005 and winning the title outright in 2006. The 2006 squad also appeared in the program’s first NCAA tournament.
