Five Outlaws to Participate in MLL All-Star Game
Cercy, Law, Sims, Sonke and Tierney selected to play in MLL showcase event

DENVER – June 13, 2006 – Five members of the Denver Outlaws have been selected to play in the Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game the league announced Tuesday. Midfielders Chris Cercy, Mike Law, Josh Sims, Jeff Sonke and goaltender Trevor Tierney will represent the Outlaws in the league’s showcase event.

The game, to be held at Nickerson Field in Boston on July 6 at 5:30 p.m. MDT, will pit the MLL All-Stars against Team USA.

Team USA, which will play in the World Championships in London, Ont. from July 13-22, will feature Denver Outlaws goaltender Trevor Tierney. Tierney, who was selected for the 2006 Team USA after tryouts last summer, is tied for second in the MLL with three wins, ranked fourth with 70 saves in leading the Outlaws to the Western Conference’s top spot at 3-1.

Cercy, who is making his second trip to the MLL All-Star Game, has won 56 percent of the 144 faceoffs he has taken and scooped 10 groundballs through four games.

Law, who is making his initial trip to the game, is tied for second in the league with 18 points (13-3—18) while placing second on the circuit with 13 goals, including a pair of two-pointers.

Sims, who is making his fourth appearance in the game, has recorded six goals, three two-pointers (tied for second in the league) and four assists while gathering 13 groundballs through the team’s first four games.

Sonke has appeared in three of the showcase events. He paces the circuit with four two-point goals to help him tie for seventh among the league’s points leaders with 16 (11-1—16).

The MLL All-Star team will be coached by Long Island Lizards Head Coach Jim Mule, Rochester’s Head Coach B.J. O’Hara and Boston’s bench boss Bill Daye. The head coach at Syracuse University, John Desko, will lead Team USA in the MLL All-Star Game as well as through the World Championships.
